This policy explains what personal data Bima Sarathi collects, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It applies to our website www.bimasarathi.in, our Android app and our phone, WhatsApp and in-person services.
The data fiduciary (the party responsible for your data) is Jai Prakash Singh, operating as Bima Sarathi, A-141, Gali No. 3, Vidyapati Nagar, Mubarakpur Dabas, New Delhi 110081.
1. Data we collect
| Type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Identity and contact | Name, mobile number, alternate number, email, date of birth, gender, address, city, state, PIN code, occupation |
| KYC | PAN; Aadhaar (only when an insurer requires it for KYC — you may share a masked Aadhaar wherever the insurer accepts it) |
| Motor insurance | Vehicle number, make, model, variant, year, fuel type, engine and chassis number, RC details, previous insurer and policy number, no-claim bonus |
| Health insurance | Details of each person to be covered: name, relationship, date of birth, gender, height, weight, pre-existing diseases, medical history and medical reports |
| Life insurance | Details of the life assured including height, weight, smoking status, annual income, medical history, and nominee name, relationship, date of birth and share |
| Documents | Copies you upload or give us, such as RC, driving licence, ID proof, previous policies and medical reports |
| Policies, payments and claims | Policies bought through us, premium amounts, payment status and reference numbers, claim details and status. We do not see or store your full card or bank login details — payments are processed by the payment gateway. |
| Communication | Calls with our team (including call recordings, where you are told the call is recorded), WhatsApp, SMS and email messages, support tickets |
| Referrals | The name and mobile number of a person you refer, and their vehicle number where relevant |
| Technical | Login records, device and browser type, IP address and error logs needed to keep the service secure |
Health information and financial details are sensitive. We collect them only because insurers need them to quote, issue a policy or settle a claim.
If you give us details of another person (for example, a family member to be covered, or a nominee), please make sure they know and agree.
2. Why we use your data
- To give you insurance quotes and help you buy, renew or port a policy
- To complete KYC and proposal forms required by the insurer
- To send payment links, policy documents and renewal reminders
- To help you raise and track claims with the insurer
- To answer your calls, messages and complaints
- To keep records that insurance regulations require us to keep
- To prevent fraud and keep our systems secure
- To tell you about other insurance products — only if you have agreed, and you can opt out any time
We do not sell your personal data.
3. Who we share it with
- The insurance company you ask us to get a quote from or buy from — LIC, IndusInd General Insurance or Star Health — and their claim processors (such as TPAs and surveyors)
- Service providers who work for us under contract: payment gateway (Razorpay), SMS and OTP (MSG91), WhatsApp messaging (Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform), calling (Exotel), email delivery and our website and app hosting provider
- Government and regulators such as IRDAI, courts or law-enforcement agencies, when the law requires it
Our service providers may use your data only to provide their service to us.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your policy is active and afterwards for as long as insurance laws and IRDAI regulations require us to keep records, or as needed to handle claims, complaints or legal matters. After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.
If you only asked for a quote and did not buy, we delete your details when they are no longer needed, or earlier if you ask.
5. How we protect it
- Encrypted (HTTPS) connections for our website and app
- Password and OTP-based login, with accounts locked after repeated failed attempts
- Staff can see only the customers of their own branch, and access is logged
- Uploaded documents are stored privately, not on public web pages
If a personal data breach affects you, we will inform you and the authorities as required by law.
6. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law, you can:
- Ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and who we have shared it with
- Ask us to correct, complete or update it
- Ask us to delete it, unless we must keep it by law (for example, records of a policy that was issued)
- Withdraw your consent — as easily as you gave it. This will not affect what we did before. If we need the data to service an active policy, we will explain what will change.
- Nominate a person to use these rights for you in case of death or incapacity
- Make a complaint (see section 9)
To use any of these rights, email jpgdelhi@gmail.com or write to the Grievance Officer below. We may ask you to verify your identity first.
7. Cookies and storage
Our website and app use your browser's storage only to keep you logged in and remember basic settings. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy first.
8. Staff and location
If you are a Bima Sarathi team member using the staff section of the app, we also process your attendance records, including your location at check-in to confirm you are at your branch. We do not track customers' location.
